Sharon Grant

Sharon Grant is a practicing Dental Therapist (BSc Hons, Manchester 2007) with over 20 years experience in the dental industry. Qualifying as a dental nurse in 1991, she went on to gain post-certification awards in Dental Sedation, Dental Anaesthesia and Dental Radiography. Sharon completed her Certificate in Education in 2004 while teaching the NVQ dental nurse programmes. She also qualified as an NVQ Assessor and Internal Verifier. In 2004 she began training as a Dental Therapist on the BSc Oral Health Science programme at the University of Manchester, qualifying with Honours in 2007. She immediately went on to take up a post as a Dental Therapist at a practice in Lancashire.

In 2004, she established herself as an independent provider of the National Certificate for Dental Nurses after local dental practices contacted her enquiring about alternative courses to the NVQ. SMG Training now runs a National Certificate course annually, with 15-20 students in each intake. In 2005, the Certificate in Dental Radiography was added to the course list, and has been very successful. This is an area of interest for Sharon who is currently studying for a Masters degree in Dental and Maxillo Facial Radiology.

Sharon delivers most of the courses herself, but has specialists for the areas of dentistry which require it.

Julia Harvey

Julia qualified as a dental nurse in 1974 and has enjoyed a long career in the industry. Leaving dental nursing in 2001 to become an NVQ assessor, she then went on to become an internal verifier and course co-ordinator for the NVQ 3 Dental Nursing qualification and the Certificate in Oral Health. Julia is responsible for the administration, marketing and enquiries surrounding all our courses.
